Marquardt BarnMy grandfather, Bill Marquardt, and several of his brothers homesteaded in western Montana in the early 1900's. Albert and his wife Bertha built a home and eventually this barn near the town of Hot Springs. The barn has been abandoned for some time and I don't know who owns it now but it is still referred to locally as "The Marquardt Barn." On a recent visit to Montana I took many photos of the barn and was impressed on how solidly built it is (my husband and nephew climbed up in the rafters), still standing after 100 years. My barn is constructed of photos printed on fabric, quilted and mounted on hand painted fabric.
