The batik painting by Jaka in the center of this piece depicts the dance of the horse spirit: "Kuda Kepang" It is free-form dancing, with each dancer moving as the spirit leads. The dancers move and behave like horses. At times, they strut. Or trot. At times, when the music livens up, they gallop full of energy across the field. This dance is usually performed in open spaces. The dancers dance themselves into a trance and get possessed by spirits, the spirits of horses.
